Stages of Healing

Beware: There are some pictures where my hair looks like a bad grease job from the 80's - sorry ahead of time! I figure the benefit of seeing this outweighs the grease ball :)

Here's a few pictures of the healing process of my abutment.

4/30/12 - This photo was taken the day of surgery.

5/5/12 - Crazy that how much of a difference the next picture looks!

5/6/12 - Couple days after.

5/9/12 - Healing well, but part on front still not healed (you can't see it)

5/21/12 - Good healing!

5/23/12 - Front still healing.

6/23/12 Healed!

8/26/12 - Perfect (taken today :) Check out that scar.. or lack of one!

I used bactricin (?) and it really helped a lot! I recommend getting it from your doctor after your initial post-surgery check up. It really sped up the healing process.

  1. My daughter has just had this op. Just over a week ago. Your images have been very helpful as I thought her wound was looking nasty but have been put at ease after viewing them. Also my daughter has the same little ear as you on the same too. I have never known anyone else that has a little ear.

    1. So happy to hear that! I don't maintain this blog anymore but I won't ever take it down since there isn't a lot of information out there. This surgery was almost 2 years ago and I am so so happy I had it, it has changed my life! I am glad your daughter had it, as well. You guys won't regret it :)

And has just had BAHA surgery on both sides I'm worried as there seems to be some gaping on both sides is this normal at this stage he's only 6yo and had it 2 weeks ago. Does it get better over time? I can't believe someone has the same ear as him! I know Im posting in 2022 but these so little information or pictures out there hope you see this post and reply 🙏
